Guide

cURL

Configure cURL to use an existing HTTP(S) proxy.

Prepare the client

Use a current cURL installation. Replace the proxy host, port and username; the client prompts for the password.

Connection example

cURL proxy example
curl --proxy "http://PROXY_HOST:PROXY_PORT" \
  --proxy-user "PROXY_USERNAME" \
  --noproxy "" \
  --connect-timeout 10 \
  --max-time 30 \
  https://example.com/

Verify the connection

Start with a public test destination you are allowed to access. Confirm authentication, exit IP and timeouts before adding target-specific parsing. Never disable TLS verification to make a failing connection appear successful.

When it fails

Review Troubleshooting for authentication, DNS, connection and TLS errors. Include your client version and a sanitized error when contacting support.
